I'm keeping the coax unhooked when I'm not using it. ![]() Ive got the antenna grounded but not my base yet. I mounted my A99 on the house and found a 10 foot section of RG258 coax in my bedroom of all places. 13.00 volts with no fluctuation over 5 minutes. I bought the fuses today and installed them. I took it apart and discovered both glass fuses had blown. I hooked it up to my multimeter to see if it even worked and it did for about 2 seconds. Well being kinda short on money, I surfed eBay for a little while until I stumbled upon a Pace 5804A 12 volt power supply. They told me i needed a 12 volt power supply. The fixed a broken wire in the mic connector and total cost was 8 bucks there. they took it apart and said the 120-12 volt power reducer blew and there was nothing they could do about it. ![]() Well I took the base station to a local CB radio shop. Any idea what I would need or any other suggestion? Thanks for any info that y'all can provide. Well I got onto as he said and they have like 15 types and models of RG-8 coax. ![]() 2) I did some research and talked to my local two wave radio club president briefly and both told me to get an Antron A-99 antenna. Any idea what that might have been with out knowing much more? I didn't actually see or hear it but it did have a smell of ozone when I returned into the room. Well as soon as I stepped out of the room, it started smoking and before my roommate could get it turned off or unplugged, something popped. Here are the issues: 1) I hooked it up to see if the lights worked and whatnot and just learning what things do and how they turn and just seeing that everything moves. Ive done some research and talked to a few people that have an idea on the subject but just seeing what you all have to say. Ive had Cb's in a few vehicles but they never really worked the best but I just recently purchased a Pace Sidetalk 1000B at a fleamarket untested in pretty good shape for $10. I am relatively new to the CB world and to the forum world as well. ![]()
